The Austrian National Library is located in the Hofburg Palace in Vienna and is home to more than 7.4 million items. Founded by the Habsburgs, the library was originally called the Hof-Bibliothek ("Imperial Library"). The name was changed in 1920, shortly after the dissolution of the Austrian empire. The library complex includes four museums, as well as multiple special collections and archives.
